Output Management XML

OMXML is an XML standard designed for the transmission of output data to print bureaux. OMXML does not contain print ready output but instead contains enough information for the bureau to create the print run: the stock to print on, the template to use, the envelope type, and of course the data for each correspondance item. OMX also contains details of which inserts to deliver with each item.

OMX provides the following benefits:

  • Standardisation: any organization that supports OMX can communicate with any bureau that supports OMX.
  • Easy to use: XML can be processed by any number of tools and is self-documenting. No more proprietary file formats!

OMX can contain text data, images (such as logos and signatures) and also job and audit information.

Control your Output

The OMXML standard has evolved as a response to the lack of an accepted standard in output management. During the early days of the standard input was sought from mailing houses as to the content of OMXML. There now exists a schema that encapsulates both runtime line of business data and metadata for use by mailing houses and providers that enables more effective end to end management of output.

Structure your Data

Traditionally data has been sent between corporates and bureaux in a myriad of different and proprietary formats. OMXML allows organisations to communicate more effectively using a set of common document definitions and opens up more effective exchange of data between parties. This releases organisations from the need to maintain a multitude of data formats and concentrate on their core business correspondance needs.
